South Asian Media School (SAMS) conducted its first ever training course on television documentary for women journalists in the SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation) region. The training course was named Gender and Media. It was held from February 2nd 2009- March 7th 2009 in Lahore. 25 women journalists from Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Maldives and Canada participated.

The women journalists had a rare opportunity of visiting the Pakistan Television, where they managed to meet the journalists and technicians. During the last tree weeks,the women journalists had an opportunity for hands on technical equipments, photography, and videography. At the end of five weeks training, the women journalists produced a television documentary, which was shown at the award ceremony on March 7th 2009.

The group was divided into five, and five different documents were filmed,produced and directed by the women journalists from the SAARC region.

Students of South Asian Media School in Lahore are witnessing the ceremony at the Wargha border.

The female journalists from Pakistan (Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, Quetta and North Frontier Province), India,Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka gathered in Lahore for six weeks to participate in "Gender & Media" training course.
